Rose Anatomical Portrait
Here is a little bit about my process of painting this portrait.
Using a photo of myself and an anatomy atlas as reference I created a rough sketch that i refined until it looked like the image below.

I then transfered the sketch onto canvas with carbon paper and began painting with acrylic paint.

I usually start by laying a thin base coat down of the appropriate color in a medium tone. I then add lights and darks where necessary.

I continue to layer paint with highlights and shadows increasing with intensity until I am finally using just white for the brightest highlights and black for the deepest shadows.
