Bouquet of Peonies
I finished up this painting last week. Here is a little bit about my process.
Using an anatomy atlas and some reference photos I created a rough sketch.

I then refined the sketch a bit and moved the carpal bones into the correct position.

I transfered my sketch onto illustration board and started painting the peonies.

Using brown, yellow ocre, and white acrylic paints I started working on the bone structure of the hand.

To create the form of the hand I layered watered down paint over top of the bones in a skin tone. I added some shadows and highlights to create a translucent look.
