Rib Cage Portrait
I found a large, gold frame at the thrift store a little while back and got really excited to work on a large painting to frame in it. But first I had to decide what to paint.

I started with sketching out small thumbnails of different ideas. After a couple quick sketches I fell in love with the idea of a rib cage in a three quarter view with a bouquet of floweres in place of a skull. The flower and rib cage together created a loose interpretation of a classic portrait painting with an anatomical, surreal twist.

Once I decided on the subject matter I created a full size, final sketch.

Then, transfered the sketch to my illustration board and began painting.
